"LIFE ON THE FARM" CAMP

NEW!

Thanksgiving Week Farm Camp

Camp will be 9am - 3pm Monday the 25th through Wednesday the 27th. Drop off will be at our "Main Farm" which is 95 Lyle Young Road, East Montpelier, and pickup will be at our usual farm camp location at "the Haven", 141 Lyle Haven Road, East Montpelier.

What will campers be doing?

We thought it would be fun to spend the morning with the animals at the farm, cows and calves, pigs, sheep, and ponies. We also have a beautiful hike to do. The morning activities are all outside, or in the unheated barns, so kids should dress for the weather. Then we will go over to the Haven to eat lunch, bake goodies for thanksgiving, and do arts and crafts. Kids will leave Wednesday with food and crafts to contribute to their thanksgiving celebrations, and hopefully some fun farm and animal stories to share.

ABOUT FAIRMONT FARM

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING?

Our Dairy Day Camp is an outdoor camp.  While we do have indoor space for lunch and crafts, unless it is exceptionally rainy, we will be outside in the weather.

Kids should come prepared with the appropriate clothing for the weather and ready to get dirty.  It is advised that kids have a sweatshirt, rain jacket, rubber boots, sunscreen and sneakers.  Campers should bring a snack, lunch and a water bottle.

It is also a good idea to pack a bathing suit and towel, if the weather is right we may play some water games.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT CAMP?

Your child will participate in daily farm chores.  We will play educational games such as dairy jeopardy.  There will be various outdoor games, hikes and crafts throughout the week.

Each child will be paired up with a calf for which they will learn to  lead, brush, wash and prep for the show ring.  We will do a field trip each week as well.

On Friday afternoon we invite parents to come watch a demonstration put on by your kids with their calves.
